When one purges, they self-induce vomit, abuse laxatives, or abuse diet pills. Anorexia is when one just doesn’t eat and excessively exercises.

A: About 5-10 million females and 1 million males of all ages are diagnosed with bulimia a year.

Q: Why would a person develop bulimia?
A: One may develop bulimia for multiple reasons. Advertising with perfect models urge people to become skinny. Another reason may be the environment one lives in. If one lives with alcoholic or parents that abuse drugs, bulimia may act as a way out of the living conditions.

Q: What are the effects of bulimia?
A: The effects of bulimia vary. The most common are: bad teeth, dehydration, or the female athlete triad. The female athlete triad is when a female has an eating disorder, amenorrhea, and a loss of bone mass. The most common effect of the mind is depression.

Q: Is bulimia contagious?
A: Bulimia is not contagious. It is a physiological thought that one has a poor body image.
